With a voice described as “light, flexible and ringing”, Tom is in increasing demand as a soloist across the UK.
Tom is a Lyric Tenor, the latest in a lineage of male singers going back over at least 100 years. After receiving early tuition from Brian Humpherson MBE, studied under the late Mezzo-Soprano Karen Radcliffe, Tom quickly became known as an exciting soloist, with an acclaimed performance of Finzi Ode to St. Cecilia, alongside The Shepherd in Respighi Lauda per la Nativite de la Signore, Handel Messiah and Mahler Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen before he graduated.
Tom continues to study with Alexandre Naoumenko and Massimo Modoni, and was also recently invited to participate in an international opera masterclass led by Maestra Emanuela di Pietro in Southern Italy.
Recent performances include tenor solos in Handel Messiah, Dixit Dominus, Judas Maccabeus and Israel in Egypt, Rachmaninoff Vespers, Haydn Creation, St Nicholas Mass and Mass in Time of War, Mozart Requiem and Litaniae Lauretanae, Goodall Eternal Light: A Requiem and Rossini Petit Messe Solenelle for a mixture of ensembles across the Midlands.
Tom has also performed scenes as Rodolfo (Puccini, La Boheme), Pinkerton (Puccini, Madama Butterfly) and Alfredo (Verdi, La Traviata).
Tom has also been in demand for ensemble work, including with Epworth Choir for a large scale performance of Berlioz Grand messe des Morts at Guildford Cathedral and most recently with the English Symphony Orchestra for a premiere performance and recording of Philip Sawyers’ Mayflower on the Sea of Time at Worcester.
